Annual Cycles of Nature

I’ve come to notice the cycles of nature here in South/Coastal Alabama.

Bugs: the spring welcomes (although I don’t) love bugs, dragonflies, regular stink bugs, butterflies migrating north, flies, mosquitoes. Love bugs return followed by dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies migrating south, smiley faced crab spiders (we have them now), orb spiders, banana spiders, leaf-footed stink bugs (ugh!). Then bugs lie somewhat dormant during the “cold” months except for mosquitoes which are here year-round because there is no long-term frost.

Fruit & nuts: strawberries open the season, blueberries, blackberries, figs, watermelon, peaches, muscadines, meyer lemons, persimmons, pecans, satsumas.

I have not completed my flowering tree list. If you have one to offer, please send me a note.  Also let me know if you’ve noticed something I’ve missed.
